An injection-molded plastic kit of the Zakspeed ZK891 formula car in 1:24 scale, completed with a figure of the show girl Amy McDonnell. According to the manufacturer the figure is produced as a printed part and the rest of the box is classic plastic; the decals cover both the livery of the car and the details of the figure. The finished car measures, according to the manufacturer, 17.5 cm in length and 8.9 cm in width.
The 891 was built for the 1989 season by the German Zakspeed team and was powered by an eight-cylinder Yamaha engine. It was one of the hardest seasons in the history of the team: the car was slow and the engine weak, so both drivers only exceptionally got from pre-qualifying onto the starting grid. Zakspeed came about as a successful team in endurance and touring cars, and its formula era ended shortly after this car. That is exactly why the ZK891 is popular with modelers as a chapter of its own in the Formula 1 of the late 1980s, one that few people have in the display case.
With a formula car the surface is what counts: paint the body in several thin coats, go over it with fine paper and seal it with gloss varnish, and only then settle the decals. Wash the printed figure first and clean up the marks left by the supports; a spray primer suits it. Paint the skin and the eyes over the base coat with thinned paint in thin layers and finish the small details with a pointed brush. The engine bay and the suspension are better painted before assembly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
