The Aber 1:32 set of two barrels for the German 7.92 mm MG 15 aircraft machine guns are turned metal parts replacing the plastic barrels. It is a detail accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of precisely turned metal barrels in 1:32 scale from the Polish brand Aber. It is a detail accessory for models of German aircraft, not an aircraft kit. The metal barrels replace the plastic parts, which in 1:32 scale look too coarse and have a blind muzzle. Machined metal holds an accurate diameter along its whole length, takes finer detail and, when fitted in an open gun position, is easy to set at the right angle.
The MG 15 was a German 7.92 mm aircraft machine gun intended for flexible defensive mountings. The gunner worked it by hand on a mount in an open or glazed position, and the weapon was fed from a characteristic double drum magazine. It was used on German bombers, dive bombers and transport aircraft from the second half of the 1930s, and in the defensive role it was later replaced by more powerful weapons.
Cut off the plastic barrel with a scalpel, level the surface and widen any hole in the mount with a hand drill. Degrease the metal part with alcohol and bond it with super glue. Because the weapon is usually clearly visible on a model, it pays to fit the barrel only after the interior of the gun position has been painted. For painting, use a metal primer and a dark gun-steel shade; a faint graphite cast on the edges gives the impression of worn metal.
The set is an accessory for a kit; the aircraft model itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
