Responsibility details are not available.
A model of the Czechoslovak trainer and aerobatic aircraft in 1:32 scale. It is a resin kit from the Czech maker HPH Models, which casts its parts into silicone molds under vacuum. This technology gives a crisp and fine surface that is harder to reach in injection-molded plastic, but the build is more demanding, and the model is therefore intended for experienced modelers.
The Zlin Z-226 belongs to the family of all-metal trainers built at Otrokovice from the 1950s onwards, which brought up whole generations of pilots in Czechoslovakia. With its fixed landing gear and air-cooled inline engine the machine proved exceptionally sturdy, so from a trainer it also became an instrument of aerobatics: the first Czechoslovak successes at world championships were won in its cockpit. A number of the machines still fly today in private hands and at air shows.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent, or the paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, never break them off. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is, with super glue, because cement for plastic does not soften resin. Use respiratory protection when sanding and cutting. A primer coat is needed before painting, and it will at the same time show up any imperfections in the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
