The replacement side skirts Royal Model 1:35 Armored skirt Panzer IV/H/J offer a true sheet thickness including the supporting brackets.
Responsibility details are not available.
A metal replacement for the side skirts of a Panzer IV model from the brand Royal Model in 1:35 scale, complemented by the supporting brackets. It makes it possible to imitate the real thickness of the sheet and its deformation.
The Wehrmacht began fitting thin steel plates hung along the sides of the hull and around the turret from 1943. They were to set off or break up a round prematurely before it struck the actual armor, which helped mainly against Soviet anti-tank rifles and against shaped-charge ammunition. The plates were only a few millimeters thick, so in the field they bent, came loose and disappeared. Period photographs show vehicles with a complete set and with a single plate left. On the late machines of the J series, wire mesh replaced them, which did the same job at a lower weight.
Metal skirts can be told from a molded part at first glance, because their material thickness is of the right order. Suggest bending with careful pressure from a round tool over a soft surface. Seat the brackets so that the spacing matches the running gear. You can paint one plate differently, as if it were a replacement part from another vehicle.
The model of the vehicle itself and the material for the build are not enclosed.
