Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale, the Mikromir part number 35-001 from the Ukrainian maker. The manufacturer lists it under the name of the subject, Neger. According to the manufacturer the package holds sprues of plastic and a sheet of waterslide decals; check the extent of the package on the box.
The Neger was the simplest German single-seat attack craft of the war and took its name from its designer Richard Mohr. It came about by joining two torpedo bodies: in the upper one the pilot sat under a transparent canopy, while the lower one carried the warhead. The craft, of just under three tons displacement, could not submerge: it ran permanently on the surface, at a speed of around four knots and with a range of about forty-eight miles. The pilot picked out his target by eye and fired the torpedo from beneath himself. Around two hundred were made in 1944. The deployment off Normandy was bloody: of twenty-four craft that attacked in July 1944, nine returned, and in a further night attack not one survived. They did sink several minesweepers and damage a cruiser.
The craft has two long cylindrical bodies, so the work is on the parting seams: fill them and sand through several grits. Mask the transparent canopy before spraying and glue it on last, preferably with cement for clear parts. Because the subject ran half under water, a fine waterline will stand out - soiling and weed around the line of flotation. For a display case a stand pays off.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
