A set of photo-etched parts in 1:35 scale for finishing a model of the German DKW NZ 350 motorcycle, cut to match the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The DKW NZ 350 was a single-cylinder two-stroke motorcycle of medium capacity that served the German armed forces in the Second World War as a liaison and courier machine. Its simple construction was easy to maintain in the field, and so this type appears in period photographs beside columns and at headquarters alike. On a model the motorcycle is a rewarding subject: it is small, but every wire and every sheet of metal shows on it.
Photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet that replace the elements which cannot be made in injection-molded plastic at the right thickness. The set is cut to match the Tamiya kit, so the mating surfaces correspond to the shapes of that kit. The breakdown of the parts and their placement is given in the instructions supplied with the set.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not snap them out, as the metal deforms at the joint. Make the bends on a photo-etch bender or along a blade, so that the edge is straight along its whole length. Photo-etched parts are glued with cyanoacrylate, and on stressed joints a small drop applied with a pin holds better than a large quantity. Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and spray it with a primer for metal, without which the shade rubs off during handling.
For builders of military equipment who want to take a motorcycle model to the limit of detail. The subject of the delivery is the photo-etched parts. The base kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
