1:35 IJA 28cm Howitzer Russo-Japanese War 1905 is a kit of the Japanese heavy siege howitzer from the fighting for Port Arthur.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese heavy siege howitzer of twenty-eight centimeters caliber in its form from the Russo-Japanese War, in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle but a fortress weapon set on a massive mounting, so the finished model makes up a scene rather than a piece of hardware on its own.
Howitzers of this caliber were originally intended for coastal defense. During the siege of Port Arthur the Japanese took them apart, moved them and put them up again in field positions, from where they fired heavy shells at the Russian fortress works and at ships in the harbor. The weight of the projectile and the steep trajectory meant that a hit penetrated even from above into works that direct fire could not threaten. The weapon stood on a circular mounting that allowed it to be traversed and it was served by a numerous crew.
The mounting has a lot of parts that have to stay in line, so glue the assembly on a flat surface and let it cure. Clean the mold seam off the barrel carefully. The model comes out well in a diorama with a wooden firing platform, a pile of shells and a crew, because the weapon on its own without its surroundings looks detached. The metal of the weapon will take a dark base with wear on the edges and dust in the lower areas.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
