An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian armored car rebuilt to run on rails. Besides the plastic sprues it contains metal springs, metal and photo-etched parts and also parts of railway track, so the finished vehicle can be placed straight onto a line. The decals offer four markings: the Italian army in the Balkans in 1942 and 1943 and two German Wehrmacht vehicles in the Balkans in 1943.
The Autoblinda was created as a fast armored car with all-wheel drive and two driving positions, so it could reverse as quickly as it went forward. The AB 40 version carried machine gun armament in the turret. The railway version received steel wheels and was used to patrol lines in the Balkans, where the railways were under constant threat. The vehicle could change its rail wheels and continue by road, which made it an unusually versatile asset.
Finish and paint the rail wheels and the running gear before you cover them with the body. The metal springs call for patience and a flat surface so that the vehicle stands on the rail without leaning. Rust on the rails and on the tires is reproduced well with pigments and a stippling technique. Italian sand and German dark yellow met on these vehicles, because captured examples were often only partly resprayed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
