The set brings an accurate replacement barrel for the M256 main gun of 120 mm caliber for models of the American M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a whole tank model but an accessory made by 3D printing, which replaces the plastic barrel with a perfectly straight and finely detailed part. The accessory is made by the brand Rye Field Model.
The M256 is the American licensed version of the German Rheinmetall smoothbore gun of 120 mm caliber in the L/44 form (a barrel length of 44 times the caliber). It is the main armament of the M1 Abrams series from the M1A1 version onwards and replaced the older rifled gun of 105 mm caliber. It delivers high penetrating power and accuracy at long range.
Separate the parts from the print supports and clean them up. Use cyanoacrylate glue to fit it. A straight barrel with no mold seams improves the look of a model considerably; paint it with an airbrush and bring out the wear on the muzzle and on the thermal sleeve with pigments and a wash. Protect your airways while sanding.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
