A 3D-printed resin barrel of the 105 mm M68 tank gun for a model of the M48A5 tank in 1:35 scale from GINGER CAT. The manufacturer gives one piece in the package. The barrel goes on in place of the plastic part: printed resin holds a circular cross-section with no mold seam, has an open muzzle and takes even a thin fume extractor housing.
The M48A5 was a late modernization of the American M48 Patton medium tank. The main change was rearmament from the original 90 mm weapon to the 105 mm M68 gun, that is the licensed form of the British L7 weapon, which the M60 tank also carried. The modernization extended the life of the machine by whole decades; the vehicles served with the American National Guard and in many other armies, some of them even after 2000.
3D-printed parts are small and brittle: separate them with a fine-tooth saw or with nippers and level the remains of the print supports with a fine file. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic does not hold. Before painting, spray a thin coat of primer, as a heavy coat would drown the detail.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
