The second set in the series of modern Italian tankers from the Royal Model brand in 1:35 scale. The castings are intended to fill the hatches of a finished model of an armored vehicle and are supplied without paints.
The Italian army entered the 1990s with the newly introduced Ariete main battle tank and the wheeled Centauro tank destroyer. Their crews differed from earlier generations in appearance too: overalls in muted shades, a tank helmet with a headset and a vest with a load-carrying system. In this form Italian tankers appeared on exercises at home and on overseas missions in the Balkans and the Middle East, so the set covers a considerably wider period than a single conflict.
First set the figures into the hatches and only then trim the lower part of the body to the real height, as on modern turrets the depth of a hatch differs from one to another. Paint the overalls matte and keep the gloss only for the headphones and the visor, so that the difference in materials is apparent. Bring out the fine straps of the vest with a thin dark run and brighten them carefully on the edges, otherwise they are lost in the surface. Finish the helmet in a noticeably cooler shade than the clothing, because a hard shell reflects light differently from cloth.
