The Sd.Kfz.250 was a light half-track armored car of the German army: wheels at the front, tracked running gear at the rear and a low faceted hull of flat sloping plates. The 250/9 version received a rotating turret with a 2 cm gun in place of the open hull and was used for reconnaissance, where the combination of decent mobility across country, small size and a quickly usable weapon came in handy. The Ausf.A version is the earlier of the two hull forms produced and you can recognize it by a greater number of faceted plates than on the later simplified version.
The 1:35 scale is the most common one for vehicles, so the model is easy to complement with figures and accessories of the same scale. The vehicle is small but broken up: the running gear with wheels and tracks, the turret and a series of small parts on the hull give work for several evenings. The manufacturer's instructions state the exact number of parts, the extent of the equipment and the marking options offered.
Assemble and paint the running gear before the fenders and the hull cover it; you will not get to the inner surfaces later. Separate the parts with nippers a little clear of the part and sand the rest. Leave the turret free to rotate and keep glue away from its mounting. Apply the paint in thin coats so that the surface relief does not disappear; on the large sloping plates of the hull a fine shading and dust applied from the lower edges upward come into their own.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and putty are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
