A masking set with resin parts for the VVSS suspension of a Sherman tank model in 1:35 scale, cut for the Rye Field Model kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sherman is an American medium tank of the Second World War, built in enormous numbers and used by the armies of a whole range of Allied countries. The abbreviation VVSS stands for the older type of suspension with vertical volute springs: the road wheels are paired in bogies and each bogie has its springs standing upright. The wheels have rubber tire bands, and outlining those is the most tedious part of the whole running gear when it comes to painting.
The set combines masking elements for painting the VVSS suspension with resin parts. The masks save you outlining the rubber tire bands with a brush by hand, while the resin parts add to or replace parts of the running gear from the kit. According to its name the set is intended for the Rye Field Model kit, so it need not line up on other Sherman releases. The exact extent of the contents and the order of the steps are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Stick the masks onto a base coat that is already dry, that is, always before you spray the next color, and press the edges down firmly so that paint does not creep under the film. Lift them off with tweezers shortly after spraying, while the coat is still fresh; the edge tears out of hard, fully dried paint. If the parts are resin, polystyrene cement will not bond them, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part, sand the rest down, and wash and degrease the parts before painting.
What is supplied is a masking set with resin parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
