An injection-molded plastic kit of the Czechoslovak Skoda PA-II armored car, nicknamed the Turtle, in 1:35 scale. The box holds clear parts for the vision ports, rubber tires and decals; the front wheels can be built turned.
Skoda delivered twelve of these vehicles on an order from 1923, and they were finished at the turn of 1924 and 1925. The rounded riveted body without a turret earned them the Czech nickname Zelva, meaning turtle, which the army never officially adopted. Three vehicles were bought by the Vienna police in 1927, the remaining nine served with Czechoslovak police forces. In March 1939 the German occupation administration took them over and operated them as Panzerspähwagen. The decals in the box cover both the police and the German vehicles.
The build is straightforward and quick, so it also works as a restful project between two large models. Fit the clear parts only after painting and mask them beforehand. The rounded sheet metal without edges rewards shade modulation with an airbrush, while the rivets are brought out by a dark wash and a dry brush. Paint the rubber tires separately and do not glue them with cement for plastic: it does not hold on rubber.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
