The real subject

The T-34/85 is the late version of the Soviet T-34 medium tank of the Second World War. Compared with the earlier machines it received a larger turret for three men and an 85 mm gun, thanks to which the commander stopped serving the weapon and could devote himself to directing the fight. It kept, however, the typical steeply sloped glacis plate and a cast turret with clear traces of manufacture.

What the set contains

This is an accessory set of photo-etched metal parts from the Upgrade Solution Series, intended for a plastic T-34/85 kit in 1:35 scale. Photo-etching makes it possible to make thin features truly thin, which is unachievable on a plastic molding. A list of the parts and the assembly sequence are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Have a sharp blade, a firm surface, tweezers with fine points and ideally a photo-etch bender ready for the work.

Building tips

Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not snap them off. Sand the remains of the tab away with a fine file. Make the folds over a straight edge or in a bender, and make them in one go; repeated bending tires the metal and the part breaks. They are bonded with super glue, as cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and spray it with primer, or the coat will peel off while it is handled. It pays to assemble and glue the photo-etched parts before the model is painted, so that a part added later does not have to be masked.
