A set of masks for painting the road wheels of the Soviet T-34 medium tank and the SU-85 and SU-100 tank destroyers in 1:35 scale. The set is cut for kits from Dragon, so the wheel seats into the cutout exactly. Going round the rubber tires by hand with a brush is one of the most tedious jobs on the whole model, and this set replaces it with a few minutes at the airbrush.
The wheel is inserted into the cutout in the flexible mask, which covers the rubber tire and exposes the metal disc. You spray the color of the disc, take the wheel out and you are done. According to the manufacturer the masks can be used several times after cleaning. It is a good idea to proceed by painting the tire first, then fitting the mask and spraying the disc over it.
Do not pull the mask on by force when fitting it, because it is flexible and will deform if overstretched; once seated, press it down with a pointed wooden stick so that it follows the surface. Avoid laying two coats of paint on the edge of the mask, or a step will form. Spray perpendicularly and in thin coats. After the work, clean the masks and store them flat.
