T-80U — 125 mm gun barrel in 1:35 (Rye Field Model)

A replacement barrel for models of the T-80U tank in 1:35 scale from the accessory range of the manufacturer Rye Field Model, the manufacturer's part number RM2103. The package holds no model of the tank, only the single part that replaces the barrel from the kit. As target models the packaging gives Rye Field Model kits, and the manufacturer designates the gun itself as the 2A46-1.

The real subject

The guns of the 2A46 family are Soviet and Russian tank weapons of 125 mm caliber with a smoothbore, loaded by an autoloader. They are carried by machines of the T-64, T-72 and T-80 series and fire sub-caliber, high-explosive and guided ammunition. The T-80U is a late version of the T-80 tank with a gas turbine, explosive reactive armor and a modernized fire control system.

Fitting and painting tips

Try the barrel dry first and watch that the axis points straight and that the thermal sleeve seats into the mounting in the turret. The joint holds only with cyanoacrylate glue, glue for plastic is useless here. Give it a primer before painting and sand away any parting or printing marks with respiratory protection. Check the version and the contents of the package on the packaging.
