The set contains footwear for a figure in 1:35 scale. It is not a model and not a whole figure but a replacement part with which you replace the simplified boots molded in one piece with the trouser leg. On figures of American soldiers it is precisely the footwear that tells the period of the character, so it pays to have it right. The same subject is also made in other scales.
The M-1943 combat boot, known among modelers as the double-buckle, is a leather boot with an extended cuff fastened with two straps and buckles. It replaced the previous combination of a low service shoe and canvas leggings, which it simplified and made quicker to put on. It appears with the American army from the end of the Second World War and stayed in use afterwards. The pairing of army and equipment fits here: it is American footwear for American figures in late-war and postwar dress.
First separate the part from the casting system with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and level the mark of the gate with a finer-grit sandpaper. If the set is cast in resin, wash it in lukewarm water with detergent before painting so that it is free of mold release agent, and choose the glue according to the material: cyanoacrylate for resin, a thin plastic cement for plastic parts. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection.
The leather of the boots looks best when the base brown shade is underlaid with a darker tone in the folds and a lighter one on the raised parts of the instep and the toe. Set the buckles and straps apart in color, or on so small a part they will merge. Weather the sole and the lower part of the boot to suit the scene: dust, mud or simply scuffed leather. Level the transition between the cuff of the boot and the trouser leg of the figure with a two-part putty and shape it into a natural fall of cloth.
