A set of plastic figures of an American truck crew of the Second World War in 1:35 scale from Bronco. It is not a vehicle model, but a set of figures that turns an empty truck into a scene with a story. The figures are supplied unpainted and need to be assembled.
American truck transport was one of the decisive elements of the Allied victory: the supply route after the Normandy landings alone, known as the Red Ball Express, kept thousands of trucks and their drivers busy. The crew consisted of a driver and a co-driver, and the work meant long hours at the wheel in a convoy, often at night and without lights. That is exactly why driver figures appear in dioramas in characteristic poses: in the cab, at an open hood or leaning on a fender.
First clean the figures of the mold seams, which on figures usually run along the sides of the arms and legs; on a finished figure a line like that is conspicuous. Paint the face and hands first and separately, ideally with a dark wash into the folds and a fine dry brush on the raised areas. American uniform color sits between olive and khaki; put a darker tone into the folds and lighten the edges slightly. If you are seating a figure in the cab, try it dry before you glue it; seated figures tend to be a few tenths of a millimeter too tall for a cab.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a vehicle and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
