Responsibility details are not available.
A detailed plastic kit of the German submarine of Type VIID in the minelaying version (Minenleger) in 1:350 scale from the firm AFV Club. The model can be built as a full-hull version on the stand supplied, or as a waterline one. The package offers finely worked out detail, four torpedoes, a well worked out propulsion arrangement and diving planes, and a choice of plastic or etched railings. The decals make it possible to mark several particular boats.
Type VIID was the lengthened minelaying variant of the proven Type VII series. Behind the conning tower it carried three vertical shafts with five mine tubes each, through which it laid mines. The lengthening of the hull created room for the mine load and at the same time kept the good seagoing qualities of the Type VII series. It was a small but specialized group of submarines of the Kriegsmarine.
Decide beforehand between the full hull and the waterline version. Glue the plastic with liquid cement and the fine etched railings with cyanoacrylate glue. The hull is best painted with an airbrush and the shades broken up along the height line, and the underside and the superstructure weathered separately. Weathering with washes and fine rust effects will give the submarine a realistic look. Apply the decals over a gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
