This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory — a set of self-adhesive masks for the clear parts of the cockpit. The masks follow the shape of the individual window panes, so the tedious cutting of tape falls away and the framing comes out straight and of even width along its whole length. The set from Omask is intended for the Meteor NF.11 and NF.13 night fighter versions in 1:48 scale. Neither the exact number of parts in the set nor the material is stated here.
The Meteor was the first British jet fighter to reach regular service. The night fighter versions grew out of it but differed fundamentally: they had a lengthened nose with radar, a longer wing and a two-seat cockpit for the pilot and the operator. The NF.13 version was adapted, against the NF.11, for service in a hot climate. It is precisely the lengthened nose and the different shape of the canopy that make these versions a distinct and easily recognizable branch of the whole family.
First wash and degrease the clear parts, so that a mask holds well. Lift the individual pieces off the carrier film with tweezers or the point of a scalpel and seat them lightly; only then press the edges down with a soft stick. It works well to spray the framing first in the interior shade and only then in the external shade — the transition at the frame then reads naturally. Apply the paint in thin coats and take the mask off while it is dry but not yet fully cured.
