A masking set in 1:48 scale for a model of the TB.2 unmanned aerial vehicle. The pre-cut pieces define the areas to be painted without laborious cutting of tape.
Responsibility details are not available.
The pieces are cut in advance and exactly to shape, so the most tiresome part of painting disappears, that is cutting tape by rule and by eye. The mask is stuck onto a finished base coat and defines the area that is to stay in the original shade. The result is a clean edge with no serrations and no paint seeping under, which shows at once in 1:48 scale.
The TB.2 is an unmanned aerial vehicle, that is an aircraft with no crew on board, flown by an operator from a ground station. Models of unmanned machines differ from conventional aircraft in painting as well: what matters on them is above all the transitions between shades, sharp edges and clean small areas, while the extensive glazing of a cockpit does not arise.
The surface under the mask has to be clean, degreased and above all dry and thoroughly cured. Do not stick a mask onto fresh paint, because it would pull it away. Lift the pieces off the backing with pointed tweezers and press them down all round the edge. Spray in thin coats and preferably in two passes; one generous coat is exactly what gets under the edge of a mask. Remove the mask as soon as the paint has set, and pull it back diagonally over itself rather than straight up. With multi-color masking work from the light shade to the dark one.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
