Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British battleship HMS King George V in 1:600 scale from Airfix. It is a reissue of an older, proven model in the range the maker devotes to its classic molds. The 1:600 scale is traditional for British ship kits and means that even a large battleship fits into an ordinary display case and does not take up half a room as it would in 1:350 and larger.
HMS King George V was the lead ship of the British battleship class of the same name and carried an unusual armament: a quadruple and a twin turret with guns of a smaller caliber than her rivals had, but with better protection. She became flagship of the Home Fleet and, after the loss of the battlecruiser Hood, took part in the pursuit and sinking of the Bismarck. Later she served in the Mediterranean and supported the landings in Sicily.
Older molds have coarser detail and a looser fit, so dry-fit the parts first. On plastic use a thin cement applied into the seam with a brush. Fill the seams on the hull and sand them down. Apply a primer before painting. Wartime British camouflage schemes were complex patterns of crisp areas, which call for masking with tape rather than a free hand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
