A set of masks for a model of the Chinese single-engine combat aircraft J-10B in 1:72 scale. According to the name it is a double-sided rendition, that is with pieces for the outer and the inner side of the glazing. The set belongs purely to the painting stage and the model is obtained separately.
The J-10 is a Chinese single-engine combat aircraft with a delta wing and canard foreplanes, that is a layout that gives high agility at the cost of more demanding handling. The B version can be told from the original rendition at first glance: it has a differently shaped nose and a modified air intake under the fuselage, done without a splitter plate. It is exactly these details that decide which variant a model represents, and they are worth checking before painting.
Before you reach for the mask, make sure the clear part is perfectly seated and the seam around it filled. A mask follows the frame, not an irregularity underneath it. The inner pieces come before the outer ones. When spraying, hold the nozzle further from the surface than you are used to on large areas, so that paint does not build up into a bead at the edge. After lifting it off, inspect the frame once more and polish any step away with a fine abrasive pad.
