A resin part made by 3D printing: the Soviet SG-43 heavy machine gun in 1:72 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but a small accessory, a weapon for a diorama, for crew figures or for the mount of an armored vehicle. In 1:72 scale it is a small part on which 3D printing brings out shapes that injection molding into plastic reaches only with difficulty. The part is supplied unpainted and with the print supports in place.
The mounted machine gun designed by Pyotr Goryunov was taken into Red Army service in 1943 as a replacement for the water-cooled Maxim Model 1910. It fired the 7.62x54 R cartridge from an ammunition belt, the barrel was air-cooled and could be changed even during firing. It was normally carried on a wheeled mount derived from the Maxim, but it also served on tripods, on anti-aircraft mounts and in the SGM and SGMT vehicle versions. It was made until the early 1960s, when the PK general-purpose machine gun took over in service.
Wash the resin in warm water with detergent before painting. Remove the print supports after warming the part in hot water, because the heated material breaks less. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). After the primer finish the weapon in a dark steel or graphite color, set the barrel apart with a slightly warmer shade and bring out the edges with a hard graphite pencil or a dry brush.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
