A decal set from Clear Prop Models aimed at the stencils of the so-called early version of this carrier-borne helicopter. It is not a kit. Stencils are the small service, warning and orientation markings spread over the airframe of a machine, which in an ordinary decal sheet tend to be simplified or missing. It is precisely they that give a finished model credibility of scale in a small scale.
The Kaman UH-2 Seasprite was an American carrier-borne helicopter intended for liaison duties, transport and above all for the rescue of crews over the sea. The early UH-2A and UH-2B versions still had a single engine, a slender fuselage with a good view from the pilot's cabin and retractable landing gear, which was an unusual feature on helicopters of its day. The machines operated from the decks of American warships and escorted carrier groups. Later conversions to a twin-engined form gave rise to further variants that served for many more decades, so the early single-engined form is a separate and interesting subject for modelers.
Apply the decals to a smooth gloss clear coat, otherwise a silvery haze will form under the film. Work with sharp scissors and cut the motif out as close to the print as possible. Dip the sheet in lukewarm water for a few seconds and leave it to rest on a paper towel until the decal starts to slide freely. Transfer it to the model with a brush and water, straighten it and blot the excess water away. On small stencils a softener works well, so that the film settles into the engraved lines and over the riveting. Once dry, clear coat the model with matte or satin varnish, which hides the edges of the film.
It is a modeling accessory. The kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package.
