A set of cast wheels for the American Martin PBM-5 Mariner naval aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Plusmodel. Castings usually have a finer tread pattern and a better shaped rim than injection-molded plastic can offer. On a large machine the wheels are sturdy and clearly visible on a model standing on its gear.
The Martin PBM Mariner was a twin-engine naval patrol aircraft with a gull wing and radial engines. It served for patrolling over the sea, for anti-submarine work and for search and rescue tasks. Flying boats were brought ashore on removable beaching gear, but later versions of the type existed as amphibians with retractable landing gear as well.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and cut the casting blocks off with a saw so that the cut falls where the wheel meets the ground. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the tires dark gray and leave the crown lighter. On naval machines work fine salt and corrosion traces onto the metal parts, because the seaside environment shows on equipment fast.
The set is an accessory for a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and a model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
