A large injection-molded plastic kit of the famous tea clipper Cutty Sark in 1:96 scale from Revell. It is a demanding sailing ship model with split hull parts, an intricate deck superstructure, yards and sails. Thread for the rigging and a display base for the finished model are usually included. Given the size and the delicacy of the parts, it is a kit for experienced modelers.
The Cutty Sark was a British three-masted square-rigged sailing ship, launched in 1869 at Dumbarton in Scotland. She was among the last and the fastest tea clippers that carried tea from China, and later she also found work in the wool trade from Australia. Today she is preserved as a museum ship at Greenwich in London and represents one of the icons of the era of fast merchant sailing ships.
Assemble the hull and sand the seams carefully; it pays to paint the deck details before the final assembly. Build the rigging and the lines step by step and with patience; tweezers make tensioning the threads easier. You can bring out the wooden surfaces of the deck with glazes and a fine wash, and the metal fittings with dark shades. Place the finished model on the enclosed base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
