A set of cards a shade is sprayed onto and kept for later comparison. They solve the most tiresome property of paints: a shade in the bottle looks different from a sprayed one, once dry it darkens or loses its gloss, and a mix you made up will never be repeated from memory. A sprayed sample is the only reliable record of how a paint really looks.
According to the manufacturer every card has a black and a white area, so a shade is tried out on both bases without any need for a primer. That matters with translucent paints and ones with little covering power, where the impression of the color on a light and on a dark base differs so markedly that they are practically two different shades. The cards are held together by a metal ring and are accompanied by labels for marking groups.
The set is for anyone who mixes shades of their own or builds series of models that are meant to keep a consistent look. It will also be appreciated by those who buy paints gradually and want to see what they already have.
