About product

DSPIAE, replacement hand saw blade, fine

This is a replacement consumable, not a tool: a blade for the modeling hand saw from the Chinese maker DSPIAE, in the fine tooth pattern. A modeling saw has a very thin blade with little set, so the cut is narrow and does not take material from around it. The fine tooth is the choice for plastic and resin, where a coarse tooth tears the edge and leaves broken-out margins that then have to be cleaned up.

Use

  • separating plastic and resin parts where a knife is not enough
  • cutting off massive casting blocks from resin castings
  • cutting plastic profiles, tubes and sheet during conversions
  • a replacement for a worn or broken blade

Who it is for

For those who already own this maker's saw. On its own, without the handle, the blade has no use. Guide the saw lightly and let the teeth do the cutting rather than the pressure of your hand: a thin blade flexes when pushed, the cut wanders and the blade can break. Work slowly in resin, as warmed resin sticks in the teeth and the blade stops cutting. Never start the cut right on a clean edge of the part either, but a few millimeters away from it, and only then bring it to the point of separation, because a saw starting up on an edge will slip and leave a scratch that has to be sanded out.

The blade is sharp and thin, so keep it out of the reach of children. Cutting plastic and resin creates dust, so work with respiratory protection, and always do so with resin.
