A collector's bust in 1:12 scale cast in high-quality resin. The sculpture is by Lars Ivar Stranden and it is released by the Italian brand Mindwork Games, which has focused on collector's busts and figures for painters since 2015. The release is a limited edition. It is not a toy or a finished decorative object: the bust is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is intended for building and painting.
The figure of the doctor is a stylized portrait with a strong character in the face and with carefully worked clothing. The 1:12 scale is a rewarding one for busts: the head is large enough for painting skin, eyes and fine transitions, and the whole still fits into a display case. A bust like this is both a practice piece and an exhibition piece for painters who want to work on detail, and the mood of the whole thing rests on the face.
First wash the parts in warm soapy water, remove the casting blocks and level the mating surfaces. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue and reinforce heavier joints with a wire pin. Sanding has to be done wet and with respiratory protection. Apply a primer before painting. On busts the skin is usually built up in thin coats from the shaded areas toward the highlights, and it is worth painting the clothing separately and seating it only afterwards.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
