DSPIAE MSP-ES08 abrasive papers for round heads, 800 grit

Five self-adhesive abrasive papers cut to the shape of the round sanding head of the electric reciprocating sander. The 800 grit no longer changes the shape but prepares the surface: it wipes out the scratches left by the 600 grit and leaves a face on which you can judge whether a joint really is level. On a curve it is the step after which there is no telling where the seam ran.

When to reach for them

After the 600 grit and before the finer grades. The 800 grit is also the lowest one at which it makes sense to check the surface under a side light, because up to that point the texture is so coarse that a flaw is lost among the scratches.

How to work with them

• Clean the head before sticking the paper on; it will not hold on dust.
• Work without pressure; the reciprocating movement does the job on its own.
• Clean the part between grits, as a grain from the coarser step will make a scratch.
• Replace a clogged paper; a blocked abrasive burnishes the surface instead of cutting it.
• Work in shorter strokes at the edges of a curved face, as an edge is removed faster than the middle.

Who they are for

The refill is for owners of the electric reciprocating sander with round heads. It comes into play on builds with a lot of sanding of joints and filler on curved parts, that is typically on aircraft fuselages, car bodies and turrets. The sander and the heads are not included in the package.

Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
