DSPIAE MSP-ES12 abrasive papers for round heads, 1200 grit

Five self-adhesive abrasive papers cut to the shape of the round sanding head of the electric reciprocating sander. The 1200 grit is the finest in the range and it practically removes no material, it only smooths away the marks left by the previous step. On curved surfaces that matters, because a residual texture stands out there more than it does on a flat face.

When to reach for them

At the end of the sanding procedure. It pays off most before a gloss coat and metallic paint, where every unsmoothed scratch would stand out. On matte finishes this step tends to be superfluous, because matte paint hides the remaining texture.

How to work with them

• Clean the head before sticking the paper on; it will not hold on dust.
• Work without pressure; the reciprocating movement does the job on its own.
• Clean the part before this step, as a grain from a coarser paper will make a scratch.
• Replace a clogged paper; a blocked abrasive burnishes the surface instead of cutting it.
• Check the result under a raking side light; from above a curved surface deceives.

Who they are for

The refill is for owners of the electric reciprocating sander with round heads who have used up the finest grit. The sander and the sanding heads are not included in the package.

It pays to keep a head of your own reserved for this grade and not alternate coarser papers on it. Remnants of coarse grain caught around the adhesive area carry over onto the surface during finishing and make a scratch you then have to smooth away from the beginning again. Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
