A turned metal barrel of a tank gun of 90 mm caliber for models of the American M47 and M48A3 Patton tanks in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber. The version has a T-shaped muzzle brake and comes without a mantlet cover. Models from Takom, Tamiya, Dragon and I Love Kit are given as the target kits. It is not a kit of a vehicle but a replacement part.
In the 1950s the American tanks of the Patton series carried a gun of 90 mm caliber with a very distinctive muzzle brake in the shape of the letter T, which led the propellant gases out to the sides so that they would not raise dust in front of the vehicle. That brake is the most noticeable detail of the whole barrel on a model and at the same time what a plastic part usually simplifies the most. The version without a mantlet cover matches vehicles on which the canvas cover was missing or had been removed.
A turned metal barrel is degreased before gluing, because neither glue nor paint will hold on a greasy surface. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and on a longer barrel it is a good idea to strengthen the joint with a pin of wire. A primer for metal is necessary before painting; without it the paint will flake off the barrel during handling. A metal part is distinctly heavier than a plastic one, so on a model with a movable turret check the balance.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
