Green Stuff World tree stumps

Diorama accessories from the Green Stuff World brand. These are models of tree stumps, the remains of felled or broken trees, which are placed on the display bases of figures and on dioramas. They are supplied unpainted and have to be cleaned before painting. In a scene they do a job nothing else can take over: they tell the viewer that something stood in that spot and no longer does. A single stump can thus tell more than a whole tree, which rather hides the scene.

What it is suited to

Stumps find a use at the edge of a wood, in a clearing, in a scene after an artillery barrage and on marshy ground. On the display base of a figure they serve as a vertical element the figure can lean on, and at the same time as a place where several textures come together: wood, moss, earth and grass. It is precisely this combination that makes a base interesting, even with only a single figure on it.

Painting tips

• first clean the parts and let them dry completely
• paint the wood with a dark base, then drybrush with two lighter shades
• bring out the growth rings on the cut with a lighter color applied from the center
• darken the lower part and add moss and fine gravel
• set grass around the stump so that it does not look stuck onto a smooth surface
• on an older stump, add mushrooms or the shoots that spring from the trunk

The accessories are supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
