The real subject

The P-40 was an American single-engine fighter of the Second World War. It fought on practically every front and in British and Soviet service as well, and because a colorful range of its finishes has been documented, it is one of the most modeled machines of its day. In 1:72 scale the model is small, and that is exactly why color details that would be hard to paint by hand stand out on it.

Application tips

• Before applying them, check the ASK instructions to see whether the parts are self-adhesive; the application method differs from one line to another and the instructions for the set state it.
• First coat the surface under the part with gloss varnish and let it dry; the area should be smooth and free of grease.
• Lift the parts with tweezers, position them dry and press them down with a soft tool so that they seat even in the corners.
• Do not reach for a decal softener until you find in the instructions that it is suitable.
• In a small scale work in good light and with a magnifier; the parts are tiny and easy to lose.
