A Zoom set for the Spitfire Mk.IXe in 1:48 scale from Airfix: a narrower selection of color-printed photo-etched parts for the cockpit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mk.IX was the most numerous version of the Spitfire, and its late wing marked with the letter e was carried by many machines of the invasion period. Airfix released it in 1:48 as a modern kit with fine engraving. This set offers it a metal cockpit, though in a limited scope.
The Zoom designation means a selected part of the full photo-etched set, specifically those parts that are genuinely visible once the model is built. The instrument panel with its color print, the side consoles and the pilot's restraints are here, while the control linkages, the consoles under the floor and the small items that disappear behind the seat are missing. That is exactly where the practical limit of photo-etch lies: with a closed cockpit, ninety percent of a full set is built in where nobody can see it. The scope matches that; what the full set buries out of sight, Zoom simply leaves out.
Leave the color-printed areas as they are and overspray only the bare metal parts. The print will rub off with solvent and with coarser abrasive paper, so only degrease the surface. Remove the original molded instruments from the plastic so that the panel seats on a flat surface, and apply the glue with the tip of a wire.
If you plan to open the cockpit up and leave the canopy slid back, reach for the full version instead; only there will what Zoom leaves out come into view. The set is tied to a particular kit from Airfix; on other plastic the dimensions will drift. The model itself, the paints and the glue are not in the delivery.
