An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima. It is an officially licensed rendering of the car from the Fast & Furious film series, the strikingly modified orange car as we know it from the first installment. According to the manufacturer the box contains special parts such as the seats, the steering wheel, the injection system tank and aluminum wheels, together with adhesive decals in the spirit of the movie graphics.
The third-generation Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) is a Japanese sports coupe famous for its low weight, balanced axle loads and turbocharged Wankel rotary engine. The two-rotor unit worked with sequential twin turbocharging, which gave the car smooth and surprisingly strong pull across the rev range. Its elegant, rounded body and low silhouette made it one of the most popular Japanese sporting icons of the 1990s. In the film series the RX-7 became one of the faces of the tuning scene; the orange version with its bold graphics is among the best-known movie cars of all.
Spray the body with an airbrush; the orange shade comes out best on a smooth, well-polished base under a gloss coat. Finish the interior and the engine bay and paint them in detail before closing the body. Apply the movie graphic decals onto a dried gloss coat, soften them with a decal softener and then varnish over them for a seamless surface without visible edges. Glue the clear and chrome parts carefully, ideally with a cement for clear parts that leaves no fogging. The aluminum wheels and the accessories come out well after polishing and light weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
