A set of masking stencils for spraying the camouflage onto a model of the F-4 Phantom in 1:48 scale. The stencils are cut for one particular camouflage scheme, so you do not have to trace the boundaries of the color fields or block them off with tape freehand.

Why reach for stencils

The hardest part of multicolor camouflage is not the spraying itself but the boundaries between the fields. Masking made by hand rarely meets up on the left and right sides, and the asymmetry shows on a finished model at a glance. An outline cut in advance holds its shape and repeats the same shape on both sides of the fuselage and on the wing.

How to work with them

• The surface of the model must be smooth, clean and degreased before masking.
• Spray the first shade, let it dry properly and only then lay the stencil down.
• Press the stencil down all the way round, especially where it crosses rivets and panel lines.
• Apply the paint in thin coats and direct it perpendicular to the edge of the stencil rather than under it.
• Take the stencil off while the paint is still fresh and pull it back over itself rather than straight up.

For modelers who want their camouflage sharp and symmetrical and do not want to spend an evening cutting tape. Offer the stencils up dry before spraying and compare them with the part, because the outline is cut to a particular shape of part. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
