A set of unpainted figures of American Civil War infantry in a marching pose, in 1:72 scale. A marching column is a scene that works better on a diorama than a static line, because it shows movement and can be stretched across the whole length of the base. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation.
The Civil War of 1861 to 1865 was the first great war fought by railroad and with mass-produced equipment, but the infantry still moved on foot and the daily marches were among the hardest parts of service. The uniforms of the two sides differed mainly in color: blue for the Union, gray for the Confederacy, although in practice the shades varied greatly with the supplier and with wear.
First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Vary the shade of the uniform slightly between the soldiers; with this war the lack of uniformity is historically documented and the scene gains markedly from it.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
