The Flyhawk photo-etched detail set for SBD carrier dive bombers with bombs in 1:350 scale refines the miniature aircraft on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but a fine photo-etched accessory. The set holds brass photo-etched parts meant for detailing the tiny miniatures of the American SBD Dauntless carrier dive bomber and for fitting them out with bomb armament. It serves to bring the air group on the deck of an aircraft carrier model in 1:350 scale to life, where a molded plastic aircraft looks far too simplified.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was the key carrier dive bomber of the US Navy in the Second World War. It became known above all in the Battle of Midway, where its crews played a decisive part against the Japanese aircraft carriers. It carried bomb armament and operated from carrier decks across the Pacific.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and bend them with a bending tool or two razor blades. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; a tiny drop helps with precise placement. Degrease the parts before painting and coat them with a primer. Given the size of the miniatures in 1:350, we recommend working with a magnifier.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue, paints and other parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
