A set of water-slide decals from the Japanese Studio27, a brand that modelers of racing cars know above all for its precise sheets. Let us explain it right at the start: there are no plastic parts in the box. This is not a kit, as you have to own a model of the Ferrari 458 Italia in 1:24 scale. The sheet serves to give an already built model the exact livery of a particular racing car. And that is exactly where its value lies: a kit usually offers one or at most two color variants, yet a real racing car went through a whole range of markings, race numbers and sponsors over a season. A collector wants that one particular car from one particular race, and that one is never in the box.
Race numbers 51 and 71 belong to the Italian stable AF Corse, which entered works Ferraris in the LM GTE Pro class, so this is the very top that Ferrari had in GT racing at all. In the 2015 running it was a pair of Ferrari 458 Italia GTE cars; the crews were made up, among others, of Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander (No. 51) and Davide Rigon with James Calado (No. 71). Victory in the GTE Pro class escaped Ferrari then, but the year 2015 has a peculiar bittersweet flavor for fans: it was the last running of the 458 Italia at Le Mans, after which the model was replaced by a successor with a turbocharged engine.
