Studio27 — a large 1:12 decal sheet: Lancia Stratos, San Remo Rally 1975, cars No. 1 and No. 11 is a set of waterslide decals for the Lancia Stratos 1:12 kit from Italeri. It is not a kit — the car model has to be your own.

First the essential point: this is not a kit but a decal sheet — markings, nothing more. For it you need the Lancia Stratos kit in the large 1:12 scale from Italeri, which the sheet is drawn for. And yes, the scale really is 1:12, not the usual 1:24: we are talking about a large, substantial format in which the finished car is over 30 cm long. The sheet covers two cars — race number 1 and number 11, so you can choose which one you build.
The Lancia Stratos is the first car built exclusively for rallying. Until then, events were contested with modified production cars; the Stratos was created from scratch — an extremely short wheelbase, a mid-mounted Ferrari six, a wedge-shaped body from the Bertone coachworks. The result: three championship titles in a row, in 1974, 1975 and 1976. The San Remo Rally is an Italian event run mainly on asphalt; the 1975 running was won by the Stratos of the crew Björn Waldegård and Hans Thorszelius with race number 11.
In 1:12 every detail stands out — and so does every mistake. The size is both an advantage and an obligation, and nothing hides here. So, honestly: decals go onto a GLOSS clear coat; on a matte surface air is trapped under the carrier film and the decal silvers — the most common mistake there is, and on a hood area this large utterly impossible to overlook. For the curves of the fenders and the transitions use a decal softener. The order is crucial: body color, gloss clear coat, decals, clear varnish, and only then the weathering. A rally car, after all, is not supposed to be clean — dust, mud, wear behind the wheels and dulled glass bring a model to life, but the washes and the pigments have to lie on the clear varnish, not under it, otherwise you will damage the decals while applying them. And of course: the sheet does not cover the whole surface, the base shades of the body are sprayed by you and have to match exactly, otherwise the transition to the decal will show.
This is a separate decal sheet. The kit, the paints, the varnishes, the softener and the weathering products are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
