The real subject

The DeltaWing is a racing prototype that stands apart from everything else on the grid. Its plan view has the shape of a wedge, the front axle is narrowed so far that both front wheels stand almost together, and nearly all the weight lies over the rear axle. The designers' aim was to reach lap times comparable with ordinary prototypes using roughly half the power, half the weight and half the fuel, and to do it through low aerodynamic drag instead of large downforce-generating surfaces. The car first appeared in endurance racing in 2012 as an experimental entry outside the classification, and it has remained one of the most discussed designs of its time ever since.

What kind of kit it is

A multimedia kit in 1:24 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, the parts are made of several different materials and a decal sheet of its own belongs to the set. The exact make-up of the contents, the number of parts and the sequence of work are given in the manufacturer's instructions; follow them throughout the build.

Building and painting tips

First dry fit all the parts and only then reach for the glue. Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down until it disappears. Before painting, wash the whole model in lukewarm water with detergent, degrease it and apply a base coat, because without it the paint will hold badly on the smooth body. Given the shape of the car, take care over the gaps between the body panels and over the transition of the front section, where every unevenness shows against the light.

For the more experienced builder of car models who can handle parts made of various materials and who wants something for the cabinet that cannot be overlooked.
