Four finished model bushes from the German maker HEKI, five centimeters tall. Five centimeters is already a solid size for a bush: on an H0 layout it matches a mature shrub that can stand on its own and will not disappear next to trees. Bushes are what decides whether a landscape looks inhabited, because they grow over exactly the places where bare ground would give the model away.
The bushes are pushed into a prepared hole or glued with a drop of PVA glue. Arrange them in clumps of uneven height, because in nature bushes grow in clusters rather than evenly across an area. Add a tuft of grass or leaf granulate around the foot and the transition from the ground will not look abrupt. Spread the shape carefully with your fingers if it has flattened in the packaging.
For layout and diorama builders fine-tuning low vegetation, and for modelers who need a larger bush instead of small tufts. A larger bush also works in the foreground of a scene, where the eye should catch on something before it reaches the main subject. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
