A finished model tree from the German maker HEKI, thirty centimeters tall. Thirty centimeters is a height that is no longer common among model trees: on an H0 layout it matches a genuinely mature tree, and in larger scales it remains usable as well. A piece like this is not bought for a group, but as the single tree around which a scene is built.
With a piece this tall, the seating decides the result. Make the hole in the base considerably deeper, fix the trunk in it with glue and let the tree dry upright, ideally propped up. Spread the flattened branches carefully with your fingers after unpacking and leave the outline of the crown irregular. Add grass and low growth under the tree, and at the trunk you can model root flares from filler, because on a large tree the foot of the trunk is conspicuous.
For builders of large layouts and dioramas and for modelers working in larger scales, where ordinary small trees look undersized. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
