Forty finished model deciduous trees from the German maker HEKI, five to eighteen centimeters tall. Forty pieces with a thirteen-centimeter spread of heights is a quantity with which a whole forest is built, not part of one. There is a practical advantage too: all the trees come from a single production batch, so the shades and the structure of the crowns do not differ, which practically never works out when they are added to over time.
The trees are pushed into pre-drilled holes or glued by the foot of the trunk. With forty pieces, plan the area out in advance and lay the trees out dry first. Taller pieces belong at the back and at the edge, lower ones at the front, and the forest visually gains depth. Inside the stand leave the ground almost bare, with nothing but leaf granulate, and at the margin add bushes and taller grass, because that is where the forest passes into open country.
For builders of larger layouts and dioramas and for modelers who want a whole forest from a single production batch. This is modeling material, not a toy. The manufacturer marks its scenery products as unsuitable for children under fifteen.
