Finished poplar models from Heki, three pieces, each 36 cm tall. The trees are not built or painted; they are simply set in place on the scene. In a landscape a poplar is above all a vertical: a slender tree drawn up high, planted along roads, tracks, field margins and watercourses and serving as a windbreak as well. Three pieces are exactly enough for what a poplar does best, that is a short row that gives a scene direction and height.
Thirty-six centimeters is a size among model trees that has to be planned for in advance. In 1:87 scale it corresponds to roughly 31 meters, in 1:72 scale to about 26 meters and in 1:35 scale to approximately 12.6 meters. In all three cases this is a mature tree which will overtop buildings and vehicles and become a dominant feature of the scene.
For builders of dioramas and layouts who need a finished mature tree and do not want to assemble it from an armature and foliage. Poplars also suit use as a visual screen hiding the edge of a base or the join of a backdrop. Remove dust from the crowns with a soft brush or with compressed air from a distance. The base, the glue and scenic scatter are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
