Four trees in an autumn version, each 18 cm tall. Eighteen centimeters is a height the viewer looks at within a scene: such a tree is no longer an accessory in the background but an element around which the whole picture is composed. These are finished trees from the Heki range, which are not assembled.
A colored crown of this size draws the eye, so give it room. Eighteen centimeters corresponds in 1:87 scale to a tree roughly 15.7 meters tall, in 1:72 scale to about 13 meters and in 1:35 scale to approximately 6.3 meters. On a layout, then, this is a sturdy broadleaf by the line or on a village green; on a diorama in a larger scale, a tree by a house with a vehicle or a figure standing under it.
With taller trees do not rely on pushing them in alone. Drill a hole in the base to match the diameter of the trunk, glue the tree in and let the joint cure in the upright position. Arrange four pieces of the same height irregularly so that no avenue is formed, and lean one of them slightly. Under the crowns leave fallen leaves in the same shade as the tree carries, and keep the surrounding grass in ocher and brown tones, so that the season holds throughout the scene.
