Three finished models of a Heki mountain spruce 20 cm tall for a diorama and a layout. The trees are supplied finished.

A spruce growing at higher altitudes looks different from one from the lowlands. The crown is narrower and more pointed, the branches shorter and sloping downwards so that snow slides off them, and the lower tiers tend to be thin. Such an outline tells at once that a scene lies in the mountains or at least in the foothills, and it goes well with stony ground, a bluff or a forest road run along a contour.
The package from the Heki company holds three trees 20 cm tall. In 1:35 scale that corresponds to a tree about 7 m tall, in 1:72 scale to over 14 m and on a model railroad in 1:87 scale to over 17 m. The trees are finished, so after unpacking you seat them in the scene straight away.
On a slope do not plant the trees square to the base but vertically upwards, otherwise the whole stand looks as though it were falling over. Between the trunks add stones, rubble and fallen needles; mountain soil tends to be bare rather than grassy. Seat the tree in a drilled hole and cover the joint at ground level with scenic material. You can create a winter scene by applying a thin layer of snow material to the branches from above, but only on the upper sides, where snow would really lie.
They suit builders of dioramas with equipment and figures and builders of layouts with a mountain theme. Three pieces are enough for a small group by a road or for filling out the edge of a wood already under construction, where the growth passes into open ground. The base, the glue, snow material and undergrowth are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
